Start your tour in Tangkahan. Tangkahan is often called the hidden paradise of Sumatra and you will immediately see why. Step out of your privately driven vehicle into a tropical oasis of green. Tangkahan is a community on the edge of the magnificent Gunung Leuser National Park – part of a UNESCO world heritage site where incredible wildlife is at your doorstep.
Over the next few days, our guides will introduce you to the wonders of the jungle where you may be lucky enough to hear the enchanting call of gibbons or see hornbills flying overhead. Relax and river tube down to spectacular waterfalls, meet the orphan elephants and participate on a small trek into the rainforest to witness the 'man of the forest', Sumatran orangutan.

Amy is head of Primates at Auckland Zoo and has worked with primates and a wide variety of other species for 17 years. She has travelled extensively, working with primates in Africa and Asia and has led Raw tours since 2013, making her the most experienced wildlife leader on the team!
Level 1: Easy - Immerse!
If your fitness is average, this is the level for you, especially if you just want to relax and participate in activities that are not too strenuous. The activities are optional, and some of them involve trekking in various terrains for 0.5 to 1 kilometre at a time. All you need for this level is good health and a sense of adventure.
